Frequently Asked Questions
I often times receive many of the same questions. Therefore, I have created this page to try to answer any of these. If you have a question, feel free to ask me if you have anything that’s not answered.
What do you feed your rabbits?
I feed my rabbits Pfaus Rabbit Pellet. It is an okay feed for Holland Lops and other small dwarf breeds.
Are Holland Lops good pets for kids?
Yes! I may be biased, but I think they make wonderful pets. They have a fun personality, and are super cute! If you are only interested in buying a pet holland lop, they are generally pretty affordable, but often times are not show quality. Just because a rabbit is not show quality, it does not mean that they are bad rabbits, it just means that they fail to fulfill the standard of perfection within their breed.
Are Holland Lops a good breed for my kids to breed?
Let’s be honest, rabbits are sometimes difficult to breed. Holland Lops are one of the hardest breeds. If you really are in love with the squishy faces of the holland lop, and the high buy in doesn’t scare you off, breeding holland lops is right for you. But remember that I have warned you about the difficulty of the journey you are about to begin if you continue with one of the hardest breeds in ARBA.
How much space does a rabbit need?
Rabbits need roughly 3/4 sq. ft. Per pound of rabbit. That means that a 4 lb fully grown holland lop can comfortably live in a 24x24 inch cage with room to spare! We do recommend keeping your rabbits on mesh floor of 1/2x1 inch welded wire to allow the rabbit droppings and waste to fall through the cage keeping your rabbits healthier. There are many cage builders and manufactures I recommend. Check out my favorites on my links page!
Do Holland Lops make good hopping competition rabbits?
YES! Hollands are very athletic and love to jump. Some are pretty speedy and love to run!
